The Repo Man — Mike Adams

The Repo Man:Mike Adams·Nicole Leger

The case

Michael Kevin Adams of Frisco, Texas, worked for a vehicle repossession company, a job that gave him access to tracking equipment. He was engaged to Nicole Leger, a single mother, until the relationship ended in early 2013. In March 2013, according to prosecutors, Adams drugged her at his Frisco home, held her captive, sexually assaulted her and threatened to kill her. She reported it and told police she believed he would end up killing her. Adams was arrested and released on bond.

Nicole moved to Melissa, in Collin County, and tried to keep her new address from him. Adams bought vehicle tracking devices and used a GPS tracker to find her. On September 9, 2013, her 17-year-old son came home from school and found her dead; she had been shot twice in the head. Investigators later recovered DNA and firearms evidence, along with records on Adams’s work computer showing searches for her location and routes to her home.

Adams was arrested in February 2014 and charged with capital murder, with a bond set at $10 million. Prosecutors argued he had killed Nicole to stop her from testifying against him in the March case. On November 4, 2016, a Collin County jury convicted him of capital murder after deliberating for less than two hours, and he received an automatic sentence of life in prison without parole.
