The Killer Bride

Jordan Graham, 22, and Cody Johnson, 25, were married in Kalispell, Montana, on June 29, 2013. Within days of the wedding, Graham was telling a friend she had doubts about the marriage.

On the evening of July 7, 2013, the couple drove into Glacier National Park and argued on a steep ledge near the Loop, a sharp bend on Going-to-the-Sun Road. Graham pushed Johnson, and he fell to his death. Afterward she told family and friends that Cody had driven off with friends. On July 10 she set up a fake email account and sent herself a message from a man called “Tony,” claiming Cody had died on a joyride. The next evening she said she had found his body in the park, and rangers recovered it from a ravine on July 12. Questioned by the FBI, Graham admitted pushing him during the argument.

Graham was charged with first-degree murder. In December 2013, partway through her federal trial in Missoula, she pleaded guilty to second-degree murder. On March 27, 2014, U.S. District Judge Donald Molloy sentenced her to 30 years in prison, followed by five years of supervised release. The Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals upheld the sentence in November 2015, and she was sent to a federal prison in Aliceville, Alabama.
